Abstract In the past several theoretical papers were published about the interaction of atoms with photons in the spectral area between extreme UV and soft X-rays. Nowadays with the generation of the free-electron facilities, in particular in Hamburg experimentalists are able to implement ideal experiments with beams that have extremely high intensities. As a result the playground of atoms in strong fields comes to the forefront. Also, a theoretical scrutiny should take care of the fluctuations of the generated FEL pulses thus in general the modelling of such effects is needed. In the following work we are exploring the bi-chromatic interaction of an FEL and an IR or a visible laser with atomic Krypton. For the first part we are motivated from a recent paper (1) thus we generate more detailed theoretical results choosing freely the parameters needed such as the pulse durations or the intensities of the lasers. In order to explore the behavior of this atom we deal with the Auger decay, which is a decay mechanism similar to the auto-ionization. Also, it is necessary to work with the density matrix formalism as we want to calculate the profiles of resonances. In the second part, we examine if the electromagnetically induced transparency is observable under specific conditions and atomic structures of Krypton. It is a rather interesting phenomenon first observed by Harris and his co-workers around 1991. In both projects we solve numerically a few sets of differential equations which have not analytical solutions due to the intricate interplay of several nonlinearities.
