Abstract In this work we present lprof, a profiling tool for measuring locality of taskparallel executions. lprof traces the execution of task-parallel programs and computes locality metrics like reuse distance and NUMA distance. We use these metrics to classify the reuse distances of each execution into classes of cost according to the hardware model and NUMA characteristics of the system. We propose a methodology for computing and visualizing the reuse distance according to each class and compare a set of scheduling techniques in terms of locality.
