Abstract

In this thesis an implementation of an Integrated Circuit subsystem is being described. This subsystem is one of the two major parts of an MPEG-II decoder which is responsible for the creation of predictor images of the video stream. Its design started from the initial stage of the block requirements and ended on the mask layout of the IC Core. In this document there are details on the study and the design of the circuit, the tools that were used, the methodology that was followed and the performance of the resulting block. Finally, an evaluation of the acquired experience during this thesis takes place and the difficulty of the various stages is explained.
