Abstract

Aim: Examine the repeatability and reproducibility of SIMKS, SIMKF, AVE-IN, CSI, DSI, OSI, AA, IAI, SAI, KPI indices of Galilei in healthy and eyes that have keratoconus. Moreover, we compare the values of pachymetry with those of the Ultrasound. Finally, we examine the statistical difference and the cut off limits of the indices among healthy, on the verge of being keratoconic and keratokonic eyes (patients that are suspected from topography and those with unilateral keratoconus). Method: In this study 67 people participated (134 eyes). We took 3 measurements in a raw from each eye, by 2 expert users of the topographic machine Galilei. By all means, we took 6 measurements of each eye. Also, we noted down results for pachymtery from each patient using the Ultrasound pachymeter. Eyes are divided into 3 categories, those that are healthy, those that have keratoconus and those that are between. Results: Galilei has a good repeatability and reproducibility. Next, it overestimated the pachymetry in contrast to Ultrasound by 16 μm (Bland-Altman plot). And last but not least, the indices that differ statistically between those 3 groups of eyes are DSI,OSI, SAI and KPI (p value΄&λλλτ 0.05). Conclusion: Galilei is reliable, concerning the indices of the topography among heathy and eyes with keratoconus are concerned. For examining the possibility of keratoconus diagnosis, it is suggested both checking the map and DSI,OSI ,SAI and KPI indices. iii
