Abstract The thirteen theaters in the cities of ancient Epirus, nowadays dispersed over regions in the northwesten part of Greece and south Albania consist the basic subject of the present MA Thesis. The majority of these public buildings, just eleven of the thirteen, such as the theaters of Dodona, Ambracia (2), Kassope (2), Gitana, Phoinike, Bouthrotos, Byllis, Nikaia and Apollonia are constructed either in the agora or other important places within the cities during the early hellenistic era. The theaters of the southern regions of ancient Epirus, with an exception of those in Ambracia, Kassope and Gitana, for which there is no enidence that are still in use during the roman era, accept changes in their structure in order to be kept also in use during the roman era. At this period of time, two other theaters are constructed, one in Nicopolis and the other one in Hadrianoupolis, two of the most important roman colonies in the area.
