Abstract

The present Diploma Thesis was prepared in the framework of the Postgraduate Studies Program (P.M.S.) "Education Sciences - Distance Education using ICT (e-learning)" of the Pedagogical Department of Primary Education of the University of Crete. More specifically, the purpose of this work was the design, development and evaluation of distance learning materials for learning Braille to adult teachers. At the same time, the objectives of the research where it investigates the possibilities offered by distance education and how much it can contribute to the correct and effective learning of Braille by adult teachers. Initially, the educational material was studied by three experts in distance education who contributed to its further formation in order to then give it to five adult teachers, who had never been in contact with the language of Braille. Then, in the framework of the work, qualitative research was used, which was actually conducted in the form of questionnaires. The results of the research showed the positive effect of the Braille educational material on the participants as they stated that they gained new knowledge, the educational material was appropriately designed for adults with proper use of multimedia tools and comprehensible activities that led to an increase in positive mood and motivation as to the language of Braille.
