Abstract

The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship(if any) between the cytocines: TNFA, IL-1A,IL-6 and the development of ards in critically ill patients. The radioimmunoassay method was used to determinate the bal and plasmalevels of these cytocines in 53 patients and 32 normal volunteers. No relationship was found between the prementioned cytocines and the development of ards. On the contrary, the plasma levels of the IL-1A and ILL-6 had significant prognosticvalue on the patient mortality.
