Abstract INTRODUCTION: In the modern era, there are constant changes and important developments regarding the economic, technological and cultural sector. In the modern era, now more than ever, it is vital for there to be continuous education of all professionals, and especially in this recearch to health professional, that with the knowledge and skills, the experience and variety of knowledge which will give them the opportunity to adapt to the aforementioned developments and changes. PURPOSE: The investigation of the improvement of the knowledge and skills of doctors and nurses of a Private Clinic, whose goal is to develop their professional skills based on Continuing Development. METHODS AND MATERIAL: The study sample of the investigation consists of 100 doctors and nurses working in a private clinic in Crete. The questionnaire includes the Participation Reason Scale (PRS). The Kolmogorov–Smirnov test was used to assess the normality of the data. Depending on the normality of each individual t-test, the Mann–Witney test was sometimes used. In addition, the one-way ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis analysis in correlation with the coefficient Pearson’s The Box and Whisler plots were used for graphic representation. The data was recorded using Excel 365 and the statistics analysis in IBM SPSS24.0 RESULTS: Out of the 100 respondents, the majority appear to be women (57%) over the age of 40. 91% have a family and 60% report to have already had 11-20 years of service. 77% of respondents declared that they consider the C.P.D. program important, while 87% considered it as necessary. There is an important differentiation between the answers given by doctors and those given by nurses (p=0.01). Also, the main reason that respondents (44%) consider continuous learning to be important is for their own professional growth. 29.5% prefer to achieve this by participating in seminars. 24.4% report difficulties in dealing with a lack of staff. According to the P.R.S. there was a significant correlation between the responses of those in possession of a higher educational degree to questions about personal benefits as well as those who have children in terms of the difficulty in following the C.P.D. program. CONCLUSION: The most important conclusion that emerges is the positive attitude, the acceptance and the recognition of the necessity of the Continuing Professional Development program by doctors and nurses. However, they seem to have difficulties attending such training courses due to family and professional obligations. Τhe design of specialized training programs should be obligatory and must be based on real educational needs. After having investigated the motivational factors that pushed health professionals towards the Continuing Professional Development program for their professional development, the design of specialized training programs must be in accord with the philosophy of education.
