Title Παροχή Υπηρεσιών Ιστού Πάνω Από Ομότιμα Δίκτυα
Alternative Title Web Service Provisioning Over Peer-to-Peer Networks
Creator Ksanthopoulos, Nick
Abstract Web Services are gaining attention of both academic and business world. It is acknowledged their potency, due to the fact, that interconnection and integration of heterogeneous systems is now possible in a unified, platform independent, way. Managing Web Services and software, in general, can be compared, in terms of simplicity, to that of information management. Meanwhile there is an increase in trying to adopt a common standard in order to create composite Web Services, thus adding value to them. Meanwhile peer-to-peer networks are considered as an integral part of modern technology, offering distributed organization, autonomy, load balancing and resource sharing. Bearing in my mind the basic weakness of current model of Web Services, which is being centralized, we propose a distributed architecture where the roles of provider, requestor and broker are no longer expressed through the traditional, and too restrictive, relationship of client-server. Publishing and finding of Web Services in registries adopting UDDI standard, can be distributed by leveraging the topology of peer-to-peer networks. Contrary to current model where only one UDDI exists locally, or a few globally which are been used by almost all Web Services, UDDIs can be too many, distributed and placed next to Super Peers. Adopting this architecture means grouping nodes offering same kind of Web Services, checking whether they are up and running when they are asked to provide their service and making search to UDDIs distributed. Expansion of network is feasible by adopting both public and private UDDIs. Same time we select a way of composing Web Services in a static manner, which is simple, flexible, productive and generally approved so that it can be combined with the above architecture, in real conditions of use. WeSProDiN is an implementation of the above architecture. Carefully selecting formal and de-facto standards from the area of Web Services we leverage JXTA platform in order to create communities of peers offering same kind of Web Services. Information, according to the domains supported by each UDDI, is being transported between Super Peers in order to be kept informed and thus lead the queries of peers to relevant UDDIs. Same time they check the status of peers offering a Web Service each time they are asked to provide it, in order to improve Quality of Service. We select Web Services closely related to Tourism. The invocation of the composed ones takes place using SOAP messages after being executed the analogous processes expressed in WS-BPEL by the BPWS4J engine.
