Abstract

The present study is taking place during a period, that the issue of decentralization of schools’ management in Greece is under discussion, especially in regards of the kindergartens, whose administration is proposed to be the responsibility of the country's municipalities, as is customary in many foreign countries. The institution of school evaluation is also another factor in changing the current administration of educational units. For all these reasons, the views, the experiences, the beliefs and the attitudes of kindergarten teachers come to the fore, as they are the ones who are directly affected, called to respond to new data. In this dissertation we talk about the advantages and disadvantages of decentralized administration of kindergartens, with the parental involvement, as the main feature of it. The existing interaction and relationship that the kindergarten teachers have with the parents of the children, who attend their class, is presented and the degree of satisfaction of the kindergarten teachers from this relationship is examined. An important finding is the presentation of the attitude of kindergarten teachers, regarding the assumption of responsibility by parents in administrative matters of their kindergartens. This finding, as the results of this research showed, is surprising, as it is not what is expected.
