Abstract |
Within the framework of the current diplomatic project we studied the implementation of a supplementary school distance education on students of 3rd grade of primary school in a math class specifically for times tables based on the principles of realistic mathematics. In order to accomplish this implementation, it was necessary for educational resourses to be developed using the distance education methology with the main focus on the presentation of the of times tables of 6 and 7 to 3rd grade of primary school through technology and particularly to students who experience learning difficulties. The program of activities is, of course in the line with the spirit of the analytical program, but also follows the essence of Realistic Mathematical education. The educational resources which were created, were implemented with 3rd grade and with the methology of experimental research, an attempt was made for one basic question to be answered: whether or not the students who are taught with the educational resource implementation with distance learning in the area of times tables, according to the realistic education, have substantially better results in comparison to those taught with traditional methods. Using a survey which students completed, and after the implementation of the education resources, data was collected which was analysed with the view to research the degree to which this particular method contributed to the learning of students. Based on research findings, it has been found that there is validity of this educational method which is suggested in this project and has helped the students considerably in the subject of mathematics and more specifically in the times tables for 6 and 7. Also, the use of the educational resources, based on the methology of distance learning sparks the interest of students and promotes active learning, a result which encourages us in terms of the success of our research.
