Abstract Osteological remains give unique knowledge of human history as they are a testimony to humans and its culture. Demographic and environmental changes, migration, the spread of disease and the impact of violence and conflict are leaving their mark on the skeleton. The presence of human remains in museum collections and exhibitions are points of communication between peoples and cultures. This category of archaeological evidence is the basis for developing collaborations and creating networks for the exchange of ideas and experiences. In the present work, Osteoarcheology and Public Archeology meet and examine the importance and role of the exposure of human remains to the general public. The purpose of the study is to explore aspects of the presence of human skeletal remains in the public sphere, through open databases, educational programs and museum exhibitions. Issues such as the skeleton as a source of information, the categories of museums and collections that exhibit human remains, the ways of public participation through educational and other programs, by Greek and foreign agencies for educational, informational and entertainment purposes are examined. The ways in which museums approach osteoarcheological remains and serve the education and entertainment of the public as well as the impact of such museum collections on different categories of the public are presented and critically approached.
