Περίληψη This thesis explores the formation of laser induced periodic surface structures (LIPPS) on Poly Carbonate (PC) balk material by irradiation with femtosecond pulses of 342 and 257 nm and laser fluence above the ablation threshold. The morphological features of the structures can be affected by changes in polarization, laser wavelength, energy, etc. of the laser pulses, resulting in different surface structures. In this study it is shown how changing the polarization from linear to circular can bring a new morphological outcome. Linear radiation results in periodic structures with one direction, while circular radiation shapes a different morphology of dot-like structures. Therefore, there were formed two different surfaces -LIPPS and Dots. To conclude to the suitable fluency areas and their limits, parametrical study was performed for both types of structures and the most uniform were tested for their hydrophobicity, their optical and cell adhesion properties.
