Title	An overview on Casimir Effect

Abstract	In this thesis we study thoroughly the Casimir Effect. We provide a complete description of the free Klein-Gordon and electromagnetic fields from which the Casimir Effect is yielded. A small introduction to quantum field theory is presented with some examples from the φ4 theory. Finally, with the use of the Drude model we rederive the Casimir Effect relative to the vacuum and we comment on the reality of the vacuum energy. The agreement with experiments is also discussed.
