| Abstract |
As we are in the third, called, generation of museums with the incorporation of the new technologies, the characteristics of the digital technology create new opportunities for the museums. These opportunities have to do with the public that can approach, the kind of content that can give and the way that the public can inquire about all that is interested in. This thesis is about Functional Design of Information System for Venetian Chandax in the Historical Museum of Crete. This thesis has developed to fill some of the gap of the digital technology in this museum. It is about a system that is designed to be in operation in the Α. Kalokairinou exhibition hall of the Historical Museum of Crete, where already the model of venetian Chandax exists. With the design of the system' s functions we try to offer visitors of the museum a system that gives pumping of information as well as a virtual reality travel in the space-time of Chandax in the middle of 17th century. The Functional Design includes a detailed analysis of requirements dealing with a number of problems: With the visitors of the museum and probable users of the system and their characteristics. With the information and its sources. With the characteristics of the place of function and the restrictions that this place sets. With the relationship between the system and the model and the harmonious coexistence of the system with the material of Α. Kalokairinou exhibition hall. With the friendliness of the system to each user and how this friendliness is achieved. With the routes in three-dimensional virtual Chandax with the help of virtual reality, with the patterns and the criterions those help us to decide on the suitable language for the materialization of these routes. In a second stage, we designed the diagram of user' s actions και interface, where is represented also with a design of the figure of our system in full development. Then we designed a simple and understandable representation of the diagram, with strict structure and without misconstructions. As suitable language for this representation of the model we choose the Telos language. So, with this thesis, we present in full development the Functional Design of the system for the Α. Kalokairinou exhibition hall in the Historical Museum of Crete.
