| Abstract |
Title: Perspectives and expectations of patients with chronic disease, relative to doctor-patient relationship in Primary Health Care.
Introduction: The communication between patient and doctor is an important asset for clinical effectiveness. Every patient has different perceptions and expectations. The doctors need to give time to their patients in order to gather information about their health.
Aim: The paper is a cross-sectional-study and aims to examine the patient’s satisfactions and perspectives based on expectations of patients in primary health care system.
Method: Data was collected from a sample of 100 patient. We asked to answer the EUROPEP Questionnaire and the PSQ-18 Questionnaire. The survey was consisted of patients who visited the Health Care of 4η ΤΟΜΥ Of Heraklion.
Results: The survey sample included 100 people, 68 female (68%) and (32%) male. Respondents who self-identify their health status as good seemed to be more satisfied about their relationship between doctor and patient. The majority of respondents (90%) reported high satisfaction relative doctor-patient relationship and were absolutely recommending the family doctors of health care center of 4η T.OM.Y Heraklion to other patients or to their friends. Results illustrated that educational status affects to the rate of satisfaction. Patients who complete their primary school education tended to rate lower scores of general practice care compare to patients who complete high-school education. There’s no statistical significance between age of patient and patient satisfaction. The 74,0% of respondents have no doubt about clinical skills of the general doctors. Furthermore, a decently percentage of patients rated lower score of waiting time issues before the consultation with the doctors.
