Abstract |
″Playing through theatre″ (P.T.T) is an endless game of exploration and discovery of both the internal and external child’s reality. This game incorporates theatrical codes and techniques, functioning in the framework of an imaginary creative convention. A convention that provides the children with the opportunity to express themselves without any kind of internal or external compulsion or censor. ″Playing through theatre″ constitutes one of the forms of dramatic expression in the educational system and one of the subject matters of the theatrical training, the way the last one has been placed among in the Greek Primary Education since the 1990. This study attempts to investigate the preschool teachers’ aspects and opinions, as far as ″Playing through theatre″ is concerned and the particularities of its exploitation in their everyday didactics practice. After studying the relevant bibliography spotting the related to issue surveys it emerged as a common resultant the beneficial impact of ″Playing through theatre″ on children. In their majority, researchers have formulated the opinion that ″Playing through theatre″ is, perhaps, one of the most advisable and exploitable forms of theatrical expression, as far as the younger in age groups are concerned. Judging by the survey’s results, it became evident that preschool teachers seem to be in favor of ″Playing through theatre″, since they believe it to be particularly applicable in the preschool education and since it provides them the opportunity to approach the didactic aims of its curriculum. Preschool teachers dare to apply ″Playing through theatre″ in their class despite the problems they are faced with. These problems are basically connected with their deficient training and the insufficient material and technical infrastructure of the Greek infant schools. Taking these facts into consideration, proposals were made in order to improve the current situation. |
