Abstract The goal of this research was the creation, the implementation as well as the evaluation of complementary educational material for the teaching of the musical instruments of the symphonic orchestra to students of the 5th and 6th grade of Primary school. The total number of the participants was sixteen. To be more specific, ten teachers of music of primary education, a friend critic expert in designing distance learning environments and five students of primary education, specifically two of the 5th and three of the 6th grade of the Stavromenos Primary School in Rethymno, Crete participated in the subject research. The participants, after studying the educational material, were asked to fill in questionnaires regarding the evaluation of the material, as well as to assess the augmented reality game “Be an orchestra conductor for a day”, during which they would participate in the Municipality Philharmonic of Rethymno municipality, a game of metacognitive evaluation which promotes knowledge through exploring. This research aims to analyze a new learning environment of the teaching process under the conditions of distance education and through the use of space-sensory games. The complementary material has contributed to the growth of education with equal opportunities by a special dimension to the role of the students. All the participants have given their positive feedback as well as proposals for the improvement of the complementary educational material. Last but not least, it is underscored that the conclusions are in total compliance with the principles of distance education and the creation of educational material.
