Abstract The purpose of this work is to record childhood trauma at the University Hospital of Heraklion and incidents that were transferred to that hospital from other prefectures of Crete during the period July 2018-April 2019. The methodology used, included retrospective study of infants and adolescents aged 0-18 years, deemed necessary to be hospitalized for at least 24 hours. The ISS, PTS and GCS indicators were used while the patients demographic characteristics, type and causes of the accident were recorded. The statistical analysis of the data was performed with the SPSS 24.0 program. The results showed that the most frequent cause of accident was drops, while boys significantly overwhelmed the injuries to girls. Most cases were transferred to PAGNI by private means of transport while the time when most injuries were recorded was in the autumn. The diagnosis in emergency department has highlighted fractures as the first type of lesion followed by traumatic brain injury, open wounds and burns. In conclusion, childhood trauma is a major cause of accidents. Restriction of causes especially among the adolescents such as trafficking is necessary, and systematic recording through a wound record is considered as a means for accident reduction interventions
