Abstract

The aim of this Diploma Thesis is to study the rise of left-wing radicalism in Greece, as well as its social composition. In particular, the paper explores the radical left, its connection to social movements, as well as its evolution in Europe. Then, the evolution of the radical left in Greece, the political formations that developed within it, as well as the evolution over time are studied in detail. Emphasis is placed on the leading role played by the radical left during the economic crisis in Greece, while attempts are made to approach its "composition", ie who were the supporters. About the methodology used in the present work is a bibliographic search in international scientific databases, focusing on scientific journals that deal with issues related to political currents and contemporary political ideologies. Also, relevant books are used, as well as relevant material from the internet, in order for the information provided to be as up-to-date as possible.
