Abstract Teachers job satisfaction has been systematically investigated for the last decades not only in Greece but around the world. Many studies have been carried out that attempt to determine which factors the professional satisfaction of teachers is affected from. The purpose of this study is to investigate how job satisfaction that teachers receive from their profession, influences their views on training. The survey was conducted during the school year 2017-2018 in the Prefecture of Rethymno. In the survey 110 teachers took part. A sample of teachers as well as educational specialists filled in questionnaires in order to collect information about the factors which affect teachers’ job satisfaction. Also data was collected in an attempt to prove how teachers job satisfaction has an effect on the training they would like to receive, and also on their views on it. Information statistical analysis shows that regardless of the job satisfaction they feel, teachers want to be trained. They prefer to be trained mostly by scientists (psychologists, sociologists) and by University Teachers. Also they prefer to be trained by their colleagues. Moreover, results showed that teachers prefer to be trained during their working schedule before the beginning of the school year. Also they prefer their training to take place in other places too such as at University. Furhtermore, teachers want to be trained in order to acquire new knowledge but also to be able to handle very difficult situations that they have to face in their class every day. Therefore, teachers job satisfaction does not affect their need for training.
