Abstract We describe the solutions in a pure s-wave superconductor Josephson junction and analyze their stability, analytically in terms of elliptic functions and num erically. We calculate numerically the critical current in Josephson junctions of conventional s-wave superconductors with macroscopic defects for different defect critical current density as a function of the magnetic fiel d. We calculate the magnetic interference pattern and the spontaneous flux in unconventional Josephson junctions of superconductors with dx2-y2+is-wave symmetry for different reduced junctions lengths and relative pha ses. We follow the modulation of the spontaneous vortex states that may exist at corner junctions of dx2-y2+iχ-wave superconductors, where χ=s or χ=dxy, and s-wave superconductors with the orientation of the crystallographic a-axis, the magnetic field, and the magnitude of the subdominant order parameter.
