Abstract

In the present work we are studying the action of compact and connected Lie groups on linear spaces of finite dimension. Their action is determined and can be described from their Lie algebra. Consequently it’s enough to study the action of Lie algebras on linear spaces of finite dimension. We apply our results to the case of the action of the special orthogonal group SO(3,R) on the eigenspaces of the hydrogen atom’s Hamiltonian and we make predictions about its energy levels.
