Title Ακινητοποίηση μεμβρανικών πρωτεϊνών σε στοιβαγμένα διπλά υδροξείδια
Alternative Title Immobilization of membrane proteins on layered double hydroxides
Author Τρικεριώτης, Μάρκος Παναγιώτη
Abstract The immobilization of membrane proteins on layered double hydroxides (LDH) was achieved with the use of a new method for the preparation of artificial membranes. The preparation of artificial membranes was based on the solubilization of fatty acids by non-ionic detergents followed by ion-exchange in the presence of layered double hydroxides. Characterization of the artificial membranes by X-ray diffraction and IR spectroscopy showed the presence of fatty acids in the interlayer of the LDH in a bilayer arrangement along with the absence of the detergent in the final product. Gramicidin was immobilized on LDH during the synthesis of the artificial membrane using this new methodology. The presence of gramicidin in the artificial membranes was confirmed using ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. Fatty acid hydroperoxide lyase (HPL) and the core complex of Photosystem II can also be immobilized by the same procedure.
