Abstract The present master's thesis deals with the question of the evocation of the Delphi field of play and of a winning city in the Pythian Chariot Racing Games of Cyrene, as presented in the Fourth and Ffth Pythίan of Pindar. The analysis of the two victory songs with regard to the images recalling the two places is structured in three chapters: initially, the work deals with the chariot race, the dedication of the chariot to the Pythian Apollo, as described in the Ftfth Pythίan:. and the reasons that prompted Pindar to show Delphi in such oήginal detail. Next, the utilization of the same game in the Fourth Pythίan is examined as well as the feelings that the poet is supposed to inflate into the viewers of the representations of his odes. Ιη the second chapter, there is an analysis pήmarily of the prophecies and oracles for Cyrene, as presented by Pindar, and secondly of the strengthening of the political position of the royal family of the city. The third chapter concerns the evocation of Cyrene and is structured in two main axes: the first concerns the context of the representation of the two Pindaric Victory Songs, while the second examines the elements of the evocation that offer information οη the life of the Cyrenians, the city and the Cyrenian tradition. The goal of this thesis is to show how Pindar manages to combine the two places with each other, in order to capture them in the consciousness of the audiences of his odes.
