Abstract |
In this work we developed an information visualization tool based on three dimensional graphics. The core functionality provided by this specific tool enables the end user to map entities and properties between different sources aiding him to quickly and easily recognize the structures, the hierarchy and the relations which are developed between diverse entities or sources.
Key point in our information visualization tool is the usage of the third dimension of space, referring to depth, for a more advanced, user friendly and intuitive representation of information in order to manage entities and their relations easily, quickly and flexibly.
Our goal is to study, design and construct a tool which will aid the end user in creating entities and relations mappings between information models written in RDFS language. Primary focus is on mapping any information model “declared in RDFS” to the CIDOC CRM (Conceptual Reference Model), so it can be used as input from other tools for data conversion among different schemas.
This tool is capable of constructing and manipulating, in real time, a virtual three-dimensional universe which in turn is projected on a two dimensional display. With the usage of this tool, the end user can insert, delete, and move objects in a virtual universe, in which he/she can fully navigate. Finally, the tool can export the matching process to files encoded in XML.
