Abstract |
This thesis aims to create educational material, suitable to support the distance reeducation of
Primary School teachers corresponding the object of Natural Sciences. It focuses on the
section "Light", it is applied and evaluated to a group of Primary Education Teachers so it
will be used in the future as a basis for a comprehensive training "package".
Initially, a questionnaire is shared to teachers. The goal is an investigation regarding: a) their
cognitive level in subjects of Science b) the methods that they apply, teaching Science in
Primary School c) their opinions about their need of training d) their availability for attending
a training course. The conclusions are taken into account in the structure, the form, the extent
and the time planning of the training material. The principles of Distance Learning are
applied, while the peculiarities of adult education and even teachers are taken also into
account.
The material includes: a) basic elements of theory b) selected examples of experimental
activities (hands-on but also virtual) c) useful laboratory techniques and suggestions for the
use of simple materials d) self-assessment activities . After the completion of the training
process, the trainees implement an asynchronous activity and present it in plenary during a
teleconference. Through team-discussion, the participants receive the relevant feedback.
The hole training process lasts two weeks. The learning model followed is that of
asynchronous study, supported by synchronous meetings (teleconferences). After the end of
the process, the participants complete a given valuation-questionnaire. The qualitative
analysis of the collected answers is used for the necessary evaluation.
The existence of an educational material which will be continuously improved and
appropriately adapted, available to the teachers at any time, will contribute to a more
effective teaching of Science in primary school.
