Abstract Debugging is a demanding process involving the examination of the runtime state of objects in order to identify potential defects and the way they are propagated. Interactive tools significantly aid this process by enabling the detection of invalid states far more efficiently and effectively. But as systems grow, the runtime state virtually explodes to encompass a huge number of objects. The later requires state inspection according to runtime object associations, something which typically involves graph views. However, existing graph visualizers are not popular, mainly because they focus more on visualization rather than interaction, by implementing general-purpose graph drawing algorithms. The latter explains why key development environments still adopt traditional tree views. We present a debugging assistant that provides visualization, inspection and configuration features designed to better fit the task of defect detection in runtime object networks. Such novel facilities, emphasizing the conduct of the debugging process, are not met within similar existing tools.
