Abstract This study is a literature review of surveys that focus on detecting cultural differences with regard to prominent position of the type of bond and which have taken place, mainly by the method of Strange Situation and also the Q-test scale. Every culture contains its own patterns of behavior, values and beliefs that significantly determine the type of bond. Specifically, in Western societies where the value of individual prosperity and independence is promoted, mothers with their infant stand to develop insecure bond. On the contrary, in non-Western societies where are promoted beliefs refer to interdependent self, and where behavior patterns and cultural values promote team spirit and collectiveness, secure bond appears in bigger frequency Based on the review of research data in Western and non-Western societies, the bond theory seem to be confirmed in some only cases. Also, in some cultural studies was found that except the cultural characteristics, socio- economic characteristics of the sample determined significantly the maternal behavior and the bond quality.
