Περίληψη Accurately measuring the attenuation of light by interstellar dust is crucial for understanding the properties and structures of galaxies. This attenuation is often quantified using the ratios of emission lines that are affected by dust in a predictable manner. Utilizing spectra from the near and mid-infrared observations by the James Webb Space Telescope, we map the spatial distribution of dust in the Luminous Infrared Galaxy NGC 7469 using various Hydrogen recombination line ratios. Our results reveal inconsistencies between the attenuation maps derived from different line ratios. We observe the highest discrepancies in the areas surrounding star-forming regions and conclude that possible factors contributing to these variations include the dust geometry, assumed physical conditions of the gas, and the presence of young, hot stars deeply embedded in dust clouds.
