There is increasing interest in the effects of migration on the health of persons immigrating to a new country. The subjective perception regarding health is used to evaluate, in general terms, the level of the populations' health. The aim of this research was to record the health conditions, to investigate the factors that influence the subjective perception concerning health as well as the degree of satisfaction regarding Healthcare services, of immigrant mothers residing within the Municipality of Gazi in Crete. The subjective perception of health of the immigrant mothers in the municipality was conducted using a face-to-face structured interview technique. In the course of the research, 47 women participated in these interviews conducted during house visits. The percentage of the interviewees that reported a chronic illness (20%) was found to be lower in comparison to the general population. A small part of the sample (8%) had visited the doctor in the past two weeks. It was disturbing that the majority of the women (72%) had not undergone a Pap test for at least three years. The abortion to birth ratio was 3:1. The use of birth control was found to be at rather low level (48%). The usual symptoms that the interviewees felt during the course of the previous year are related statistically significant, with the subjective perception of health and specifically a negative relation. There is a positive correlation with the degree of satisfaction of their lives and other factors which were investigated such as satisfaction from their respective husbands, themselves and their health. It is observed that satisfaction from healthcare services is related to the absence of permanent or chronic illnesses or disabilities. This could be attributed to the fact that people without personal experience of, or dependence on healthcare services due to the absence of illnesses, tend to be less critical in their judgment. The result of the research raises the need for cooperation of the immigrants with organizations and services of the municipalities and the strengthening of inter-social and inter-cultural communications.
