Title Βιοχημική μελέτη των λεκτινών της αιμολέμφου από τρία είδη καρκινοειδών. Η σημασία τους στην αναγνώριση κυττάρων από θηλαστικά

Abstract Hemagglutinin activity toward mammalian erythrocytew was detected in the hemolymph of the crustacean species parapenaeus longirostris, liocarnicus depurator and potamon potamios. The proteins(lectins) responsible for this activity were biochemically purified and characterized for their ability to recognize carbohydrates and to agglutinate cells and bacteria. Two lectins were purified from P.Longirostris. These lectins recognized N-Acyl-Aminosugars agglutinated rabbit, human and mouse erythrocytes and Gram-bacteria. One lectin was purified from L.depulator. The lectin recognized Poly-O-Acetylated sialic acids and agglutinated mouse erythrocytes and specific Gram-bacteria. Finally, one lectin was purified from P.Potamios. The lectin recognized A-Gelactosides-Derivatives and agglutinated rabbit erythrocytes. The lectins have a potential for applications in cell biology and biomedicine.
