Abstract The aerodynamics of a sail plays a crucial role on the speed and efficiency of a sailboat. For an autonomous sailboat the sail helps to have a fixed form in order to stable and predictable. By simulating a wind-tunnel on a CFD environment we have the ability to measure aerodynamics attributes like the Drag and lift coefficients of the sail with which we can evaluate them. In this thesis we have created a windtunnel environment, simulated using the CFD module of COMSOL Multiphysics. A good agreement between CFD and experimental or computational data is observed and the results are analyzed and discussed in details. A number of investigations have been conducted on the sail design demonstrating the best on the basis of Lift over Drag value for various angles of attack of each design iteration. The creation of a Wind-Water flow environment with a Sailboat sailing was followed with the environment not being stable enough to conduct sufficient measurements.
