Abstract

This dissertation deals with the oxidation reactions of the conjugated dienes catalyzed by chloroperoxidase from Caldariomyces fumago (CPO< EC 1.11.1.10). Most of the dienes which were studued showed increased activity towards their oxidation with the biocatalyst. These studies showed two main types of rwactions : i) reactions taking place in the enzyme's active center (epoxidation and allylic hydroxylation), which lead to the formation of the products with high enantio- and diastereoselectivity. ii) reaction taking place in the solution (free radical reactions), which lead to the formation of the cleavage products, products from double bond isomerization, oligodimerization and mixed peroxides. The abilityof CPO to catalyze the oxidation of primary, activated (allylic) alcohols has also been studied. These alcohols were proved to be excellent substrates for CPO and were selectively oxidized to their corresponding aldehydes.
