Abstract

The last decades observed a rapid development of technological innovations which are applied in every aspect of everyday life. The constant development and expansion of the internet, parallel to the construction of technologies of collection, storage and pro-cession of the information, have resulted in the production of new automated systems in different sectors of the production process. This phenomenon is termed “Digitaliza-tion”. Both worldwide and in Greece, one of the most rapid digitalized transformable sectors is the banking sector, which over the last decades has been followed by signifi-cant transformations. The development of digitalization has affected the overall work-ing activities of the banks, producing new products in the sector, new services to the public, and also causing radical changes with regard to the labor of bank employees. The following research seeks to take part in a broader discussion about the evolution of “Digitalization”, and more specifically about its effects on the labor of the workers, focusing on the transformations occurring in the banking sector in the last decades ow-ing to the integration of new digital technologies, and the effects of which are brought upon the labor of the bank employees. The main research topic of this essay is research-ing the effects of digitalization on the labor market of the bank employees, a question which comes up reasonably by observing the rapid changes occurring in the Greek and worldwide banking sector in the last years.
