Abstract In this work, we analyze gender in relation to politics, as it is a very important element especially for our country, because despite the developments and the development of society in Greece there is still today a large gap, mainly in the political area, between of two sexes. The key question we seek to explore is how the two genders evolved in politics, as well as why even today there are clear differences between the two sides In the first chapter of the work, we mention the conceptual approaches related to our topic, in order to provide the relevant concepts for a better understanding of the work. In the second chapter we make a historical approach to the subject, so as to establish when these differences existed, when things started to change, as from our research, in the old days women were not represented in the area, as well as what was the element that which pushed society towards a better treatment of women in society and in politics. At the same time, in this chapter we mention the differences that exist between these two sides in politics and more specifically in the various parties, as for example we also make more specific references to what percentage of women are represented in each party. An important element of the work that we mention in this chapter is the relevant legislation that the EU has concluded over the years for equality, mentioning at the same time similar conditions, while we also mention where our country is in the representation of women in the Parliament compared to other countries. In the third chapter we talk about all the characteristics of Greek society, emphasizing the disharmony that still exists between the two sides in society, in the field of work, in the family, as well as in the field of politics. What is observed in Greece is that while issues of equality have been significantly promoted in our country, gender discrimination is not absent either from the labor market or, of course, from politics. At the same time, we also refer to the reasons for this situation, which are none other than deeply rooted and outdated ideas of the patriarchal family in our country, stereotypes and the traditional way of lifeAlthough of course from 1980 onwards things about equality showed that there are changes in society, the reality is that disproportions have not disappeared even today. Nevertheless, what we find is that there seems to have been a small change in politics as well, especially in recent years, where women occupy more and more positions in the Parliament, without this meaning that the "scissors" in this area between of both sexes has become extinct. In conclusion, we state that in our country a lot still needs to be done in this area in order to have a greater representation of women in politics, something that can be better organized through better information, education, as well as targeted strategies, elements that will give women new opportunities so that they no longer encounter obstacles to their advancement in politics.
