Abstract The concept of precarious employment is a multidimensional issue of great concern to modern societies. The various economic crises of recent decades have shaped a different context regarding the relations between workers and employers. The main purpose of this thesis is to analyze precarious work and the metrics that have been taken for social sustainability. Both at the European level through the European Union and in Greece, laws have been enacted to prevent exploitation and ensure proper working conditions. The concept of sustainable development first appeared on the political scene in 1987 and since then concerted efforts have been made according to the needs of society. In 2015, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted, which contains targets for social sustainability. In addition, reference is made to the period 2010-2020 for the evolution of precarious employment in Greece.
