Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate all the factors that are included in shipping in an international and national way, and to analyze, as far as possible the impact of Greek shipping in the Greek economy. The Greek shipping industry is an export, which is very useful in the development of the Greek economy and creates thereby jobs. Its development is a primary reason why the maritime sector should be studied, reported and investigated as an autonomous and independent financial paramount factor. Greek Shipping contributes a lot in the national economy and this fact makes it an economic branch with margin of growth and profitability. The characteristics of people, choices, strategies, legislation, its fleet and flag make up a supernumerary puzzle, some pieces of which we are trying to combine here in this analysis. Today’s crisis is not only a threat but also a challenge to Greek Shipping, so the near future will show what is going to happen.
