Title Ο ρωσοϊαπωνικός πόλεμος του 1904-1905 : στρατιωτικές και πολιτικές διαστάσεις
Alternative Title The Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905 : military and political dimensions
Author Χαρίτος, Ιωάννης
Thesis advisor Νουτσόπουλος Θωμάς
Abstract The current thesis discusses the conflict between Russia and Japan, as it has evolved at the Far Eastern theatre, between the years 1904-1905. It is an overview, research and management, of mainly English bibliographic sources. Apart from the combat events, it examines the diplomatic dimension, as well as the way the war was integrated in the societies of the belligerents. Without being restricted to the nineteen-month-long conflict and the final victory of Japan, it mentions pre-war events and post-war policy making. This, combined with the fact that it touches some complementary aspects, such as war innovation and economy, allow it to highlight the broader context of the Russo-Japanese War. Main conclusion of the thesis is that this war is placed between the concepts of imperialism and modernism.
