Abstract

The present thesis attempts to analyze the issue of Greek Immigration Policy during the period 2010-2020. The purpose of the research is to gradually present the information in order to fully understand the issue of immigration policy in Greece. To this end, the study is organized as follows. The first chapter consists of the theoretical framework of the research, for the understanding of the steps of molding the immigration policy, through the analysis of the processes of a public policy in general as well as the corresponding theory of International Relations and also the five basic types of shaping the policy of the European Union. Furthermore, a key element in this chapter is the definitions of terms used in immigration policy. The second chapter of the research sets the legal foundations for the analysis of immigration policy, through International and European Law, and also mentions the significance of International Organizations and Non-Governmental Organization (NGOs). In the third and most important chapter, the Greek immigration policy and its cooperation with the European Union during the period 2010 to 2020 is analyzed. The last section of the study partially deals with the analysis of the factors of migration and the other half a brief reference is made to the post-period (2010-2020) migration policies.
