Abstract While 20th century was the most violent throughout human history, was still the most successful one, considering that, humanity found its ways to overcome the effects of war and establish United Nations, an intergovernmental organization that seizes to abolish any potential chance of Third World War. Additionally, the International Committee of the Red Cross and International Humanitarian Law are the key factors which provide unconditional relieve and protection to the victims of war, whereas the conditions of war should apply to the Geneva Conventions and its Additional Protocols, given the fact that any other act would be brought before the International Criminal Court. The present thesis explores the historical, political, and legal connection between the above-mentioned institutions concluding that there is an instant and unbreakable bond between International Criminal Court and International Humanitarian Law, which allows the impartial punishment of those who are unwilling to comply with the laws of war and the protection of the victims of war.
