Abstract

The rural sector is the most important sector of the economy, as its role is irreplaceable and crucial. Particularly, in our country, it has always been of great importance, since agriculture employed a large workforce, ensuring social cohesion and regional development. The economic crisis, which is still unfolding in Greece, has had a series of chain effects on a large part of the Greek population. As there have been a number of changes and attitudes after the crisis in recent years, the agricultural sector is returning to the forefront as the saving force of young people. This postgraduate thesis explores the interest of young people in rural jobs because of the impact of the financial crisis. The results of the primary research show that there is room for young people, but at the same time difficulties and lack of information are detected. However, with proper government intervention, there is hope to alleviate barriers to entry in the agricultural sector.
