Abstract The present thesis analyses in depth and in full range Independent Authorities in Greece, under the eye of the research discussion which has been developed in the field of the political science. It examines the integration procedure of this institution into the Greek political system and its relation with the building process of the Greek social and political formation. It also connects the integration of this institution into the Greek political system with the establishment of Neoliberal managing models, with the political strategy of weakening the state and Europeanization process. It integrates the institution in the frame of reformatting the power model, in Greece as well as in Europe, and it associates it with the depoliticizing of the state and the neutrality of certain parts of its activity, the deconstruction and diffusion of sovereignty and the wider redefining of public-private borders. It makes a critical evaluation of the relevant theoretical discussion in international but also in Greek bibliography and analyses the institution's characteristics in Greece. It maps the whole of the current Greek regulatory reality, analyzing twenty eight specific entities, while also standardizing them suggesting an new categorization, enlisting them in categories and subcategories, analyzing the structure and activity of every single of them, while it critically evaluates them, both individually and as an institution in general. The present dissertation claims that, Independent Authorities, act towards the direction of depoliticizing the state and the social field, therefore also towards the direction of decreasing democracy and the indirect social body resignation from self-defining. More specifically Authorities than deal with the market regulation, even though they do not structurally contributing to Neolibaralism, but nevertheless provide structural characteristics which generally lean towards capital, so as to be used by it to the direction of the institutional standardization of Neoliberalism and the consolidation of the particular economic system as unavoidable. Thus, the Independent Authorities, not only do not contribute in the state's reformation, but finally they are proved to be the culprit of conservating societies.
