Abstract |
Introduction: Quality of life is a multidimensional social phenomenon and its concept is closely related to the subjective perception of individuals for their life, while the level of psycho-emotional well-being is one of the most important manifestations of quality of life.
Aim: The aim is to explore the relationships of psychopathology and schizotypal personality traits with quality of life in the general population. Critical reading of the literature in combination with the results will provide with proposals for the design of interventions, policies and strategies that could lead to improvement of quality of life in the individuals.
Methodology: The size of the sample was set at 150 people and consisted of persons aged 18-65 years. The Quality of Life – BREF (WHO) questionnaire was administered to investigate quality of life, the SCL90 psychometric test was used to explore psychopathology, and, finally, the SPQ psychometric test was used to score for schizotypal personality traits.
Results: The total score of quality of life is significantly correlated with the total scores of psychopathology (p.value, 006) and schizotypal personality traits (p.value, 001), as well as with all the subscales of the above variables. These relations are modified by gender. An overview of regression coefficients find that age, negative factor of schizotypal personality traits and anxiety have a statistically significant negative relationship with quality of life, while the positive factor of schizotypal personality traits is positively associated with quality of life, but without clinical significance.

Conclusions: The results of this study can be applied as to how primary health should be delivered, especially in conjunction with the critical reading of the literature where it becomes evident that designing policies and exploring for quality of life and psychopathology especially in primary care, can have only positive effect.
