Abstract |
Modern approaches for Primary Health Care (PHC) prioritize universal and equitable access to comprehensive health services, with main objectives to improve services and reduce costs. The implementation of various strategies will inevitably be accompanied by mechanisms for collecting data to assess the extent to which the procedures of PHC implemented.
The "PCAT" tool is structured based on the principles of primary health care. It’s valid, weighted and can describe the adequacy of primary care as taken by users of health services.
This study presents the Greek version of the PCAT-AE, culturally adapted and conceptually equivalent to the original tool, pilot applied in a population receives Primary Health Care services by Health Centre in Moirés.
According to guidelines provided by JOHNS HOPKINS SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH, during translation and cultural adaptation included two independent forward translations, qualitative review and harmonization to ensure clarity of conceptual adequacy and use common language, blind backward translation, review of final translation by a focus group, to produce the consensus translation, cultural adaptation by a lay panel composed by persons with similar cultural characteristics as the study population, elaboration throughout processes based on development and review.
Descriptive statistical analysis was applied to investigate the distribution of the responses in the pilot implementation.
The Greek version of the PCAT will be useful for measuring the extent and quality of Primary Care services from the viewpoint of the consumers or family caretakers
