Abstract The research focuses on adolescent high risk group users of illegal drugs. A questionnaire examining pupil's social environment, health and use of substances was completed by the pupils of all senior high schools(general and technical)and the technical school of the city of Heraklion. Their answersindicated that 2.9% had tried illegal drugs. Logistic regression analysis constructed a model consisting of the six following indices, predicting the high risk group pupils' for use of illegal drugs:(A)substance use,(B)psychopathology,(C)financial circumnstances, (D)how they like spending their free time, (E) insufficient communication with parents and insufficient control by parents, and (F)parents' attitudes towards satisfying their childrens' needs. Furthermore, the results supported a hypothtesis based on an interaction theory of motivation in systems context. In particular, drug users prefer the interaction with lower systems than themselves.
