Abstract

The present thesis, as its title suggests, deals with the compositions that have been made over the years by Greek composers to the poets K. P Cavafys and K. G. Kariotakis. But the present thesis is not only about the philological reference to the work and the characteristics of the poetry of the two poets, nor only about the musicological analysis of the poems set to music that have been created over the years based on their poems. It starts from these data with their analysis and then examines the possibilities of their utilization in two key courses, That of literature, which is also the course that teaches poetry as such the course of history that these musicalizations will function as "different" sources, since poetry already exists in history textbooks as sources that describe some situations. The paper begins with the introduction that poses some general questions about poetry -Greek poetry more specifically- Greek music and especially the artistic Greek song that dealt mainly with Greek poets and the lessons of history and literature as well as the position of poetry in them. The first chapter gives the historical context and the history of literature during the years that the two poets lived (1863 – 1933). The second has to do with their biography and ergography and the third is a musicological analysis of some selected compositions of Cavafy's and Kariotaki’s poems. Some of these are selected in the fourth and final chapter, as examples of the use of musicalizations in the teaching of other educational issues in history and literature courses by teaching through art.
