Abstract In this study we attempted to investigate issues relating to disability and especially stigma of mental disability. More specifically, the ethnographic type of research conducted and presented below had intended to study in depth the case of a Ceramic Workshop of a center that hosts adults with mental disabilities, focusing on two subjects with mild mental retardation, and by exploring withthe use of drawings and the materiality of clay, how that people themselves but also their surroundings perceive their identity as mentally disabled, a stigmatized social category. The research was based on qualitative methodologies, namely ethnographic approach combined with biographical and eco-bodily-experiential approach. The procedure was performed using methodological tools of these approaches and more specifically participatory observation, biographical-narrative interviews and free discussions of their drawings and ceramic works.
