Abstract The role of the school psychologist in the modern school is multidimensional and very important for healthy adaptation and psychosocial growth of students. The institution of Diagnostic, Educational, Assessment and Supporting Team (DEAST) in the Greek educational system is an innovative institution. School psychologists of DEAST are responsible for counseling teachers to deal with psychosocial problems of the students, supporting students in need and counseling their parents or managing prevention or intervention programs at an individual or group level. In the international literature, the school psychologist mainly prefers doing assessment and counseling tasks for students in each school, because there is no time to support them. In school context, the teachers who need the psychologist's help will eventually determine which tasks and duties new psychologist must performed in their school. In order to help students effectively, the psychologist must work interdisciplinary with other specialties who offer their services in the school and the members of the educational community and students’ parents. Objective: the research was conducted in June 2021, participate 6 school teachers who work in secondary education schools located in the urban area of Crete. The research studies their perceptions and attitudes of the psychologist’ role in DEAST and their expectations about the structure, organization and operation of EDEAUS, as supporting team in school. The teachers were asked to suggest solutions to functional problems of EDEAUS or ideas of better collaboration in interdisciplinary teams in schools. How can describe these problems and does they want to solve them in the future? Methodology: The researcher selected qualitative research data with a semi-structured interview and a 15-question guide . The thematic axes of the research were: role and tasks of a school psychologist, interdisciplinary cooperation with a psychologist, which cases he undertakes, organization of the intervention, personal and professional skills, work experience and personal studies as psychologist, problems of adaptation to the school context, acceptance of the psychologist's work by the school teachers and effectiveness of his school work. Conclusions: The teachers of the secondary schools in which EDEAUS operates welcome the support and help of school psychologists with optimism, but point out many operational problems, such as the lack of suitable workplaces for EDEAUS members, sufficient working time for the psychologist to deal with the multitude of cases that refer to him, lack of time and conditions for interdisciplinary cooperation, communication and cooperation problems, problems of adaptation to school culture, administrative and organizational problems of the EDEAUS institution. Their attitude towards the psychologist is positive and they want him to work in their school every day, to give them the opportunity to develop communication and cooperation with him, to get to know the school culture and to deal effectively with the problems of the school's students. The teachers who participated in the research believed that the institution of EDEAUS needs to be reformed based on the requirement to satisfy the psychosocial needs of students and their families. They propose that psychologists and social workers must work in a the same school every day, so that they undertake the support of students, their psychosocial adaptation, the counseling of teachers and parents and the implementation of programs to prevent and protect the mental health of adolescents.
