Abstract The current thesis investigates the ways in which three challenging phenomena of the preschool education system can be tackled. These phenomena are the extreme behaviorism, unilateral mentality, and unimodality of communication. As a solution to these phenomena is proposed creativity, holism and multimodality, during arts integration and specifically through a relatively new approach called aesthetic teaching. Aesthetic teaching is a kind of a teaching approach in which the arts pervade to the teaching processes, while at the same time trying to ensure an aesthetic approach to each taught subject (Pike, 2004 ˙ Sotiropoulou-Zormpala, 2012a ˙ Granger, 2006). Music, as one of the arts, is chosen to examine how the creativity, the variety of types of engagement and the variety of ways to communicate of preschool children are affected when approaching the taught subjects when “musical activities of aesthetic teaching» are involved. For this research, 23 “musical activities of aesthetic teaching” were planned and implemented at one of the classes of the Kindergarten of Stavromenos in Rethymnon, Crete. The sample of the research is 14 preschool children, and the researcher is the kindergarten-teacher of the class. The final results answered the research’s questions validating the literature review that was previously made. Specifically, the results shows that when “musical activities of aesthetic teaching” embody in the teaching process, students are creatively, multifaceted and multimodally influenced.
